About the Register
Why the Register exists
The Rosebud Police Senior Citizens Register is a crime prevention and community care initiative of Rosebud Police for the benefit of senior citizens. It helps seniors living in their own homes feel safer, and gives their relatives and friends peace of mind that the Police are concerned for their welfare.
Older people are statistically less likely to be the victims of serious crime, but the fear of crime can affect quality of life. The Register exists to reduce that fear.
The service is completely free of charge. The Register has been helping seniors since 1995 and is an incorporated association and registered charity.
What happens after you join
- Your details are entered on a confidential database at Rosebud Police Station. They are shared only with Police, Ambulance or Fire Brigade in an emergency.
- A volunteer phones you to talk about whether you would like regular check-in calls.
- We offer you a free home security audit.
- You receive your blue Register ID card.
- Our volunteer drivers may visit to see how you are going. If nobody is home, they leave a call card.
Your ID card
Your blue ID card is the size of a business card. Please carry it with you at all times. If you are ever in an emergency, it tells Police, Ambulance and Fire Brigade that your next of kin, doctor and other important details are held by the Register.
Lost your card? Phone the office on (03) 5986 0400 for a replacement.
